Azvian Preflight

Disgrifiad

Updating is the most common way a live WordPress site breaks. Azvian
Preflight runs a check before you apply an update — or on any installed
plugin or theme on demand — and answers two questions about that change:

Is it safe?
A static scan of the code for functions, classes and constants that are
deprecated or removed in your current or a target PHP version, or a
deprecated WordPress function. You get a file:line list and a plain
verdict: looks clear / deprecations found / review before updating.
Findings are flagged usage, not proof of breakage — a lot of deprecated
calls are safely guarded by version checks — so the wording stays honest.

What does it cost?
A footprint of the target’s registered CSS/JS: which handles it owns and
what those files weigh, so you have a baseline to compare against after you
update.

Everything runs locally. No account, no external calls, no data leaves your
site.

WP-CLI

wp preflight check woocommerce/woocommerce.php --target-php=8.3

Preflight Pro

A separate add-on (from azvian.com, subscription) adds automatic pre-flight
on every update and auto-update, a continuously maintained compatibility
dataset (including per-plugin breaking changes), WordPress-major and
PHP-major readiness, custom-code scanning, real before/after impact diffs
with history, and safe-update with automatic rollback. The free plugin
works fully on its own.

Gosod

  1. Install and activate.
  2. Open Azvian Preflight in the admin menu.
  3. Run a pre-flight against a pending update, or any installed plugin/theme.

Does a finding mean the update will break my site?

No. It means the code uses an API that changed. Many such calls are
guarded by version checks. Treat findings as “look here”, not “this breaks”.

Does it phone home?

No. The free plugin uses only the dataset bundled with it.

0.1.1

  • Renamed to Azvian Preflight (from Preflight) at the WordPress.org review
team’s request, to avoid naming confusion with existing plugins in the
same “preflight” naming space (PreFlight Scanner, Site Preflight, and
    others). No functional changes.

0.1.0

  • First release: static compatibility scanner (functions, constants and
deprecated hooks), asset footprint, run history, admin screen, WP-CLI
command, and a bundled dataset covering PHP 7.4-8.4 removals/deprecations
    and WordPress core deprecations.
